I love fun, kitschy products (growing up, I was that kid whose room looked like pee wee's playhouse...:) ), so clearly I'm all over Soap & Glory. The line was developed by Bliss founder Marcia Kilgore and is inspired by tabloid-style journalism. Marcia's pampering products are based on the belief that a good laugh can take off as many years as a good ‘lift’...which is so true! Ever since I've been writing for the Snob blogs -- writing about what I love most -- people have been telling me I look like a happier, healthier person:) Of course good products always help, and this is a nice, fun and inexpensive line, and with the backing of Bliss founder Marcia Kilgore, you know these are actually reliable when it comes to quality. ***You should ABSOLUTELY try the Oatmeal Body Bar, it's delicious.
So often I find myself lost in Sephora or Barneys bliss, that I forget you don't always have to spend a bundle to get great products (I've actually been alternating Allure Chanel Deodorant, with deodorants from Nivea's Men's line!). I was lucky enough to get the chance to test-out a line of face, body, and hair care products called Yes to Carrots and while I didn't fall in love with every single one of their products, they had some wonderful (and amazingly inexpensive) finds!
All the Yes to Carrots products are paraben-free, and have Beta Carotene along with 26 minerals from the Dead Sea (this got me excited..anyone who has tried Ahava products knows how great Dead Sea minerals are!), and true to their name, if you check-out the ingredients you'll find things like carrot juice, pumpkin, carrot seed oil, and sweet potato -- so fun!!

Last year I spent a week on a yacht sailing the Mediterranean coast of Turkey – sounds like fun, right!? OY I can’t even begin to describe to what extent I was eaten alive by mosquitoes! I had to sleep covered head-to-toe, sprayed in a cocktail of Off, and all that in the sweltering heat! While the Off sprays proved to be effective in preventing new bites, they have a smell that is horribly potent – think cheap, taxi-cab air-freshener. You need to spray so much of this stuff that the smell literally seeps into all of your taste buds (everything you eat and drink ends up reeking of the spray!).

"Jeez honey -- wax much?" ...The Sex and the City line spoken by Samantha and directed at Miranda must have spurred countless women to brave the pain and head to their nearest hair removal salon! That said, I just got back from Shobha, a small, upscale chain of hair-removal salons in NYC and tried sugaring for the first time -- I can't even describe how much better than waxing it is!! The sugar gel is made in-house from only sugar and lemon juice, and has a honey-like consistency. It works just like wax, but doesn't stick to your skin, so while it's still not the most pleasant experience, trust me, it's A LOT less painful than waxing. Shobha's staff is also super-friendly and patient, which is always important for me when I'm trying things I'm nervous about!
Let's get personal for a moment here, really personal. If you are not the type to discuss underwear, you should skip to the next entry. Now those of you still here, I have to tell you about the new stain-free underwear in the market with waterproof-breathable fabric, the Luxury Liner invented by Emily A. Beck. Many of us wear panty liners daily to avoid the stains but the Luxury Liner saves will save you from the hassle! Not only does the Luxury Liner absorb light moisture and spotting (with patent pending wick-stop material), it also has an anti-microbial agent for odor control. I picked up a pair in pale pink to test it out and am about to order another dozen! It's $19, try it out for yourself and let me know how much you love it! Buy Luxury Liner here.

Philosophy sent me the latest in their yummilicious body sets, Surfer Girl, last month. I generally give the sets away to our readers but this one perked my interest. Not many (if any) people know about my secret obsession with surfers. I moved to Southern California when I was 16 and spent years going to the beach almost daily. I had a great tan (while using lots of sunscreen and hats ) and dated cute surfer boys but what I really wanted was to be that cool surfer chick who drove up with her surf board on the top of her car, shaking her long tangled sun bleached hair as she zipped up her wetsuit and bravely paddling out to sea without fear of sun, sharks, or drowning (all of which I am deathly afraid of). I remember watching the surfer girls with envy as they caught the perfect wave and the exhilaration on their faces as they were brought back to shore. Each of those memories are tinged with the smell of sea, fruity surf wax and glistening skin. Which is what the Surfer Girl exfoliating shower gel and lotion offers! The products smell delicious and leave your skin with a hint of gold shimmer. There is also a sparkling gold lipgloss that I've been using on top of my usual-- it gives me just the golden tinge I need to face the summer days. Philosophy Surfer Girl Set $35 at Sephora.
A few years ago, I mistook my moisturizer for my sunscreen and jetted off for what I thought was going to be a relaxing afternoon sailing on my father’s boat. Little did I know I would end the afternoon looking like a red tomato and lucky not to have third degree burns (ouch)!
Seriously ladies, we work so hard to keep our skin looking as fab as it does, why risk ruining it all by not putting on sunscreen. Of course, when L’Occitane comes out with an amazing sunscreen line, I for one don’t need any extra convincing. I have a weakness for their products because they always smell delicious and their new “L’Occitane Do Brazil” line is no exception!
I was recently in San Francisco at Nordstrom trying on a bra and when I gave it back to the sales woman telling her it was too big, she said “O honey, don’t worry, you’ll grow into it!” Being in my 20s I told her I thought it unlikely that my cup-size was going to increase anytime soon, shocked the woman told me she estimated my age at 16! While I’m all about working with what you got, given that my petite cup-size passes for that of a 16 year old, I can’t help but be intrigued by Rodial's new product called Boob Job. However unbelievable it may seem, the cream promises to increase your cup-size by 8.4% within 56 days!
